Fall Recruitment Drive?

Postby krosch on Sat Aug 12, 2006 1:26 pm

I was just wondering if we want to make another concentrated run at bumping the hits and posts on this site up again. I know we have done a few in the past that mainly involve putting up posters and we have gotten a few bites from such things. But I was thinking perhaps it could be more effective if we did it right at the start of the school year not to mention possibly writing letters to the editor or even guest authoring an artcile on the site here in the Statemen.

Heck maybe even an ad if a few people wanted to chip in cash but I don't think with our site an ad would give us the same bang for our buck that posters and/or a new Statesmen news article would.

I've done a few myself in dorms and on main campus and would certainly be willing to spend some time on a weekend or weekends doing that again.

So if someone wants to design some posters I will certainly paste them up around campus.

Also we could really use a student to write an edititoral article talking about the site. I would certainly be willing to help with information an Sd/or editing if someone wants to take that up. Because one of the big draws we had in the early days was Stew talking about this site in the statesmen. The other likely bigger one was college proffessors telling their students to get into discussions here. But even that could have in part been spawned from the Legendary Stew's article.

Looks good, if you make something I can download and print on a full sized page I will certainly help putting some of those up. Or better yet if you print a bunch and we can setup a time to meet on a weekend(s) I will help you put those up around campus.

There have been in the past (maybe still are) a lot of women lurkers but for whatever reason most of the most active people have been guys. We have had some women on here who were very active posters for certain periods of time but none really in the long haul....

It's mostly guys on the Internet, period.

Studies I've seen show that young females tend to use the internet heavily for email and instant-messaging, but not much else.

No I haven't talked to Tom I have only talked to people who posted in the thread and I am now going to be out of town tommorrow. So I can't do it this weekend but I would be game for next weekend likely Saturday Morning or afternoon.
